The Private Suite at LAX

IMAGINE FLYING FROM COMMERCIAL & NEVER HAVING TO ENTER AN AIRPORT…IT’S EDENFYW!

The Eden For Your World Team had the pleasure of visiting one of Los Angeles’ newest and greatest stars, The Private Suite at LAX. Los Angeles is the perfect place to inaugurate this level VIP service. Though this is the first of it’s kind in the US, The Private Suite group is planning on bringing the service to JFK this year, as well as MIA and other destinations soon.

Here are the basics:

  • Fly commercial but have the private airport experience.  Skip the LAX traffic and entrance and go to a private airport entrance adjacent to the airport.  Stay in the left lane on 105 and exit at Imperial Blvd.
  • Upon arrival to the Private Suite entrance valet will greet you and take you to your fully stocked suite with anything you want free of charge: all food, beverage, amenities are yours to consume and take. Members may pre-schedule a complimentary massage or manicure and have their car detailed while away. All included and all customizable.
  •  Experience the only private TSA and customs with no line – just you and your travel companions in comfort and privacy.
  • Once your flight is ready to depart, a Private Suite BMW will pick you up at your suite and drive you on the tarmac directly onto your commercial plane. This same service is provided upon return.

EXCLUSIVE LAX TERMINAL WITH PRIVATE SUITES REDEFINES THE AIRPORT EXPERIENCE!

The Private Suite, a newly built and exclusive private terminal serving all commercial airlines, transforms Los Angeles International Airport into one of the world’s most convenient airports for people traveling in premium class. The Private Suite dramatically enhances the LAX experience with a new private terminal offering high-end security and logistics, and five-star services. The Private Suite delivers the most seamless and luxurious approach to airline travel.

The Private Suite provides an efficient and discreet method for high-profile individuals to be transported directly to and from their aircraft. Within the gated and guarded compound, the new private terminal features ten individual suites, a new facility for private TSA screening, and direct-to-aircraft transportation across the tarmac, Head-of-State style. Eliminating the congestion of traffic and crowds, members enter LAX through a special gate, and are welcomed inside the compound where they can work or relax while all travel and baggage needs are handled by The Private Suite. Members of The Private Suite enjoy private TSA screening, on-site Customs and Immigration processing, the comfort of their own suite, and the convenience of direct transportation across the tarmac to their aircraft in BMW 7-Series sedans — streamlining the typical LAX experience with unprecedented privacy, comfort, and service at every turn. While it typically takes a passenger more than 2,000 footsteps to get from car seat to plane seat, for members of The Private Suite, it’s just 70 footsteps – and every footstep is peaceful and efficient.

The Private Suite at LAX is the first-of-its-kind in the U.S., modeled after VIP services that have proven successful at many major overseas airports including London’s Heathrow Airport, and airports in Munich, Frankfurt, and Dubai, among others. The Private Suite is owned and operated by Gavin de Becker & Associates (GBDA), the consulting and security firm that protects many of the world’s most prominent people. Headquartered in Los Angeles, GDBA has operations in 27 cities and seven countries. The new airport facility serves as the testing site for several innovations in aviation security, providing key support to Federal Government agencies and Airport Police. GDBA’s Aviation Services Division at LAX is run by two leaders recruited from London’s Heathrow Airport: Danny Sloan, who directed all VIP services, and Steve Gargaro, who managed The Windsor Suite. Leading The Private Suite’s hospitality team is Vikram Sood, formerly with Four Seasons Hotels and The Ritz-Carlton.

Located right alongside the main runways, The Private Suite is removed from the traffic and congestion of the public terminals. Each suite features its own bathroom, food-service pantry, a two-person daybed, and a view of aircraft landing and taking off. The logistics of the service require a dedicated team of eight people assigned to each member.

1
One gets members securely into our gated compound
2
Another escorts members to their suites
3&4
Two others manage any special service requests
5
Another escorts members through private TSA screening and into one of our runway-side BMW 7 Series sedans
6
Another drives members across the tarmac to their aircraft
7
Another serves as advance person waiting at the jet-bridge to escort members to the aircraft door
8
An unseen eighth person deals with the luggage
(The process is reversed when members arrive into LAX)

Incredible India

India – the one land that all men desire to see, and having seen once, by even a glimpse, would not give that glimpse for all the shows of all the rest of the globe combined. ~ Mark Twain.

Well, Mark Twain nailed it! India is a land that is on practically every “bucket list” and it’s there for many good reasons. It is there because it’s a pilgrimage site for all travelers! Whether it be religions, foods, unique cultures, architecture styles, textiles & jewelry, the arts, exotic flora and fauna, geographical beauty, finding your inner yogi, escaping the ordinary, exploring the extraordinary, humanitarian travel or indulgence in luxury travel – you will find it in this massive country.

India is a “khwab ghad”, a dream land.

You will be mesmerized from the moment you set foot on it’s soil. You will be blown away by the  chaos, and by the peace you will find within yourself while amidst it. Yes, that is contradictory, but, so is India. A long blog about everything you can do and see, or even everything we did and saw is redundant. Just go! Do not be afraid of getting Delhi belly (we did and it was worth it), don’t be dissuaded by concerns of seeing things that are too third world (we did and it was worth it), don’t be concerned about having to see it all at once (you will be back!). India is rose petals being thrown upon your head, cardamom, kindness, gold and glitter – mixed with indoor cows, zippy three wheeled Autos and some heat. It works… it’s INCREDIBLE!

Here is a breakdown of Eden For Your World’s visit to India in April of 2015:

  • Delhi. The capital city and a sprawling city (the third largest in the country).
  • Udaipur. The romantic city and the “Venice of the East”. Built around lakes, dotted with palaces and home of the Rajputs.
  • Varanasi. The spiritual capital of India. One of the oldest continually inhabited cities on the planet. Built on the banks of Ganga, the sacred Ganges River.
  • Agra. You know…home of the Taj Mahal!
  • Jaipur. The “pink city”. Alive and vibrant, and our favorite spot for shopping.

Here is our travel video, so you can see a little bit of why it’s so incredible:  INDIA

Let us assist you in designing your visit to India.  With first hand knowledge and our personal connections with the best service providers and hotel operators, we’ll create the perfect experience tailored to your interests and comfort level.  Speaking of comfort level… we’d like to thank our friends at Peirce & Leslie, The Taj Group of Hotels, The Leela Hotels, Oberoi Hotels and ITC Mughal for making sure we always were.

Rosewood London Calling

Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford. ~ Samuel Johnson

Welcome to London, welcome to the world… We came, we walked, we shopped, we ate, we museum-ed, we pub-ed, we stayed in luxury, but, we’ll never be royals.

Samueul Johnson’s quote says it best.  London is full of life. There is so much to see and do in the city, that you’ll feel like you can never do it all. Like any big European city it has museums, cultural sites and arts, shopping, dining and local attractions that can keep you going nonstop. But, the core of the city is quite manageable in size and you can realistically walk by everything on your list quite easily.  May we just say that the we love the Victoria and Albert and British Museums. They are both so beautifully curated! They each have just enough of the empire’s amazing booty to keep you interested in visiting every one of their galleries. In London there’s a vibe and a pace that is so similar to what we find in the big cities of the U.S., but it is definitely unlike anything at home. It’s very cosmopolitan and very English at the same time. That’s what we love about it! Friendly faces and a familiar language make it easy to strike up conversations with locals and visitors alike (usually over a pint). However, getting around is not so easy.  We found the traffic to be as frustrating as it is in L.A.. So after a few private car transfers and taxi rides we opted for the Underground. It’s everywhere, it’s easy and it’s clean. Mind the gap!

You’ll enjoy the sites of course, but, you’ll also love exploring all of London’s unique neighborhoods.  Each with it’s it own vibe and energy. Visit Knightsbridge for a glimpse at some of the most gorgeous town houses and some of the haute-est cuisine in town. Check out SOHO at any time of day (or night) for non-stop action and energy.  Bloomsbury is a good respite from the fast pace, and it’s picturesque tree lined streets are just steps away from theaters and retail therapy. You know you have to see Kensington and Chelsea, it’s so London! Needless to say, there is a neighborhood for your every mood.  Just don’t forget to wave to the Queen when you pass her pad in Westminster.

Speaking of pads, London has no shortage of excellent luxury accommodations to choose from.  On this occasion we choose to stay at the beautiful Rosewood London.

Paris! Paris! Paris!

Je suis sous le charme!

Paris is magic!  Anyone who tells you different is confused!

We happened to fall upon it during the winter holidays.  It was the first time we’d been there to witness no leaves on the trees and very little of the quintessential overflow of Parisian diners being beautiful at outdoor cafes.  Not even the bitter cold (for us Californians) could stop us from walking the city day and night, all the while in awe of it’s elegance.  Yes, it was lovely.  But, it was also a bit like guiding the lily… Paris is so incredibly beautiful on it’s own, without festooned garlands down every street and big glittery bows adorning it’s grand palace facades. Nevertheless, the city was alive and gorgeous as ever.

Paris is organized, it’s distinct neighborhoods, it’s grand, it’s manageable, it’s museums, it’s boutiques, it’s cafes (we have new favorites), it’s chic, and it’s just too pretty to describe in words.  The big, luxurious, city can be can be anything you want it to be.  Whether you’re looking to eat, shop, get enlightened or just relax, it’s all there for you to discover.  Paris is comprised of twenty neighborhoods (arrondissements) that each have a particular feel.  It’s important to choose the location of your accommodations appropriately according to how you’d like to enjoy your stay.  There is definitely no shortage on variety of hotel/apartment types in the city.  We’re here to make that decision easier for you (read more about where we stayed below).  Needless to say, we’ve done our homework on the City of Light and we’ve got you covered.

About that… City of Light vs. City of Lights thing… We are on the City of Light team.  Paris was know as the “ville lumière”, which was meant to express Paris’ enlightenment in terms of the arts, culture and learning. Thought the city it lit beautifully, it’s clear that the city was and is still enlightened!

If it’s your first visit, plan on staying at least five nights.  You would kill yourself if you stayed any less.  If you’re returning or haven’t been for a while, be sure to visit the new Fondation Louis Vuitton that Frank Ghery designed and the newly reopened Picasso Museum.  Both amazing!

Oh, and Parisians like us (if you’re cool).  Anyone who tells you different is confused!

Let’s start planning your visit to the City of Light.  Sante!

Le Bristol offers an air of seclusion in its peaceful garden setting. Rare for Paris, Le Bristol features a vast interior courtyard garden, the largest of its kind. Equally impressive is the hotel’s swimming pool located on the sixth floor with stunning city views.

Fun fact: On some Saturdays, the elegant Castellane salon hosts fashion high teas, featuring designer cakes (the BEST croissants in town) and the latest collections…

PLAZA ATHENEE PARIS

Practically synonymous with Paris, Hôtel Plaza Athénée brims with all the elegance one would expect of a classic hotel situated between the Champs-Élysées and the Eiffel Tower. Located on the prestigious Avenue Montaigne, at the crossroads of fashion, entertainment and business, the Hôtel Plaza Athénée represents a delicate balance of refinement and luxury. The lobby is a vision in “Plaza red,” terra cotta, gold and bronze — accents you’ll discover in your room as well. Each of the 148 guestrooms and 46 suites offers windows that open to the Eiffel Tower, Avenue Montaigne, La Cour Jardin, the inner courtyard or the rooftops of Paris. See and be seen in one of several acclaimed dining options, including Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée.

Buenos Aires – Argentina

What’s new Buenos Aires? I’m new, I wanna say I’m just a little stuck on you.  ~ Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice

It had been ten years since we had visited the city and our return reminded us why we fell in love with this city once before.

It’s easy to get “stuck on” this gorgeous city. It may be the second largest metropolitan area in South America, but it’s definitely number one in style.  Wherever you look there is beauty.  B.A.’s architecture, it’s monuments, it’s people, it’s parks and even it’s shrines to her fallen are gorgeous.  Each of the districts of the city have there own unique flavor and charm.  In each you’ll find treasures, weather it be food or fabulous shopping finds (and there are a plethora of both for everyone’s tastes).  Then there is the food and wine… how much can one person eat and drink in a day?  The answer is – a lot!  Fine dining is abound, but, even the whole in the wall empanada place has amazing wine to accompany it’s beautifully wrapped meaty treats.  Currently, the major bonus is the value.  As visitors to Argentina, the dollar goes a long way.  You’re bags will be full of goodies to bring home, your bellies full of food and your pockets will be surprisingly happy too.

Unfortunately, today Argentina’s economy is broken.  It’s seems to be a eight to ten year pattern there.  There are some noticeable signs around town.  There is a bit more graffiti on the walls of certain neighborhoods, though some of the graffiti is actually art and pretty fantastic.  The difficult times have also brought a rise in petty crime.   Everybody seems to be talking about it in Argentina and abroad.  However, we felt safe and comfortable getting around by car and on foot.  We were cautious, but never worried.  The key in safety anywhere in the world is knowing yourself and your surroundings and most importantly not looking like a target.

Buenos Aires is one of those cities where you get home and tell all your friends “I’m moving there!”  Go see it for yourself and discover why.  If you’ve already been, maybe it’s time for your return.  You’re different and so is the city.

Here is how we spent our four full days in B.A. Enjoy the travel video:  Buenos Aires.

Stay: Enjoy special EFYW perks when booking any of the 5* hotels below.

Do:  Visit the neighborhoods…

  • Recoleta:  Chick and boutique.  World class luxury and du jour to do’s everywhere.  The architecture is particularly grand here.  Don’t miss the cemetery or museums!
  • Palermo:  It’s like Melrose, but better!  Colorful and trendy.  Hipsters and hippies unite.
  • San Telmo:  Antiques galore.  Cobblestone streets, cafes and finds everywhere you look.
  • Puerto Madero:  Last time we were in B.A. there was no reason to come to this neighborhood. Things have changed.  The young, wealthy and in vogue have taken over and they’ve declared it the place to be.  Design, fashion and cocktails are here.  Cheers!

Eat & Drink:

  • Puerto Cerrados – A variety of closed door restaurants in private homes.
  • Arumburu BIS
  • Heirbabuena
  • Sucre
  • La Parolaccia – Casa Tua Palermo
  • Floreria Atlantico
  • El Sanjuanino

Travel Weeks Sao Paolo 2014

Eden For Your World had the pleasure of attending Travel Week Sao Paolo for the third year in a row.  The 2014 edition was fantastic, like previous years.  However, this was the inaugural year of the show’s merger with International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM).

Between May 6-9th luxury travel agents and suppliers descend upon the vibrant city of Sao Paolo and unite under the roof of the Bienal Pavillion, designed by renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer, at Ibirapuera Park.  Meetings and collaborations are on the agenda from 9am-6pm.  Afterwards, dinners and cocktails become a more relaxed atmosphere for all of us to gather and talk business and fun!

During shows like this, we are afforded the greatest luxuries available on earth… connections with suppliers on site and in locations where our clients will be heading.  These connections are why we choose to travel far distances.  Our participation and our personal experiences work to make our clients future travel’s true ‘eden’ experiences!

Enjoy a brief 30 second recap of Travel Week Sao Paolo:  TWSP14
